Don’t Let Bullies Get You Down
This book made me cry. Not because it was very sad, but because it reminded me of lessons I had to learn when I was bullied. I think this is great for kids that are having trouble fitting in or being bullied.
The author, Dawn Brookes, writes about a cat called Gerry.
Gerry has to wait and watch as all the other animals are picked up by new owners, but Gerry is always left behind. But then, one final family come and the little girl picks Gerry.
Gerry is happy in his new life, but when he tries to make friends with the other cats, they all ignore him. Gerry has one ear. Gerry is strange.
For the rest of the book, the author shows us that you don’t have to be ‘puuurrrrfect’ to fit in. You need to learn to be yourself and stand up to bullies.
I really liked this book and I think everyone should read it in school. I think it would be perfect for 5-9 year olds because it has lovely pictures for younger kids and it isn’t too long.
I give this book 4 stars, but only because I am 9 years old and I like longer books now. I think lots of younger children would give it 5 stars.
