Aliens Love Dinopants by Claire Freedman Review

A Book that is Truly Out of this World

It seems, for Claire Freedman, that underpants have become quite a lucrative business. Aliens Love Dinopants is just one of the seven children’s books she has written surrounding the topic and each one has been just as popular as the last.

Hear what our Glass House Kids think in our Christmas Wish List Video:

The story this time revolves around a gaggle of over-excited aliens as they embark on a mission but when they encounter a dinosaur, they quickly realise that there is no need to argue over something they both love so much – underpants.

Freedman explores the ideas of ‘getting along’ in the most beautiful way, helped of course by the gorgeous and brightly coloured images created by talented illustrator Ben Cort.

Although the stories themselves would stand alone and amuse even the most difficult of children’s imaginations, it is also easy to say that Ben has created iconic characters in the aliens, immediately recognisable and loved by all those whose shelves play host to Claire’s books.

The books feel more interactive than most, with many fun things to spot on the pages and plenty of conversation opening images.

Our Glass House Kids were incredibly excited to see the latest in Claire’s collection gracing our Christmas Wish list, with many of them screaming “I have the other book at home”. These have become firm favourites of most children and it seems the latest in the range did not disappoint.

Although as a mother I wonder just how many books can be written about underpants, it seems I may be alone in my thinking. When I asked the children what animal they would like to see next – their responses varied from:
Monkeys (Love Underpants)
Cats (Love Underpants)
Giraffes (Love Underpants)

Don’t worry Claire, we will not charge for future inspiration – but the kids might be on to something there.
