Vanessa Altin is a hard news journalist turned author.

She splits her time between the UK and Turkey with her Kurdish husband and two daughters.

Reporting from the Syrian/Turkish border for the Sunday Mirror in 2014, Vanessa met the helpless, homeless Kurdish children fleeing the battle for Kobani.

“The plight of those desperate children has changed my life forever,” said Vanessa. “I wrote the Pomegranate Tree to give them a voice and the hope of a better future.”

Her debut book, The Pomegranate Tree, was born out of an unrivalled, and intimate knowledge and over-whelming admiration for the Kurdish People.
